What is Hypnotherapy?

A combination of Hypnosis and therapy which enables a deep state of relaxation and awareness. Through Hypnotherapy the conscious mind is bypassed and the subconscious mind is activated. The therapy is administered by communication positive suggestions creating a profound shift, this removes blocks in people's lives that were previously difficult to eliminate ensuring rapid, powerful, safe and positive long lasting and beneficial changes.

Hypnosis was derived from the Greek work 'hypnos' meaning sleep. This term is incorrect in the proper practice of Hypnotherapy. It is better understood that individuals induced into the hypnotic state display trance-like behaviour. Many times this has been portrayed negatively in science fiction movies, cartoons and stage hypnosis . They portay individuals in the hypnotic state as being controlled by a practitioner and made to do anything they want without the individual's permission.

In reality, leading an individual into a trace-like state is merely a condition that enables access to a subconscious 'switching system' activating sensations, behaviours and healing and a release of deeply ingrained bad habits and patters through the client's own suggestions. Clients are able to come out of the trace-like state whenever they like, but simply don't due to very quickly benefiting from a relaxed and calm state of mind and awareness. This is why Hypnotherapy is now an established form of therapuetic healing, to change habits, behaviour and physiology giving power back to the client, Hypnotherapy is now part of the activities of people participating in successful programs such as Smoking Cessation, Weight Management and Hypno-birthing to name a few.
